The Rajasthan Government introduced a new policy to recruit social media influencers to promote its welfare schemes and programs. It is titled "Social Media Influencer New Broadcaster Policy" and was announced in the Rajasthan 2024-25 budget.
Under this policy, social media influencers on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will be the “new promoters." They will create engaging content, “With clearly defined eligibility criteria, performance-based honorariums and structured responsibilities."
The government wants to reach up to 20 million impressions in a month. These social media influencers will be hired contractually for a year. The applicants must meet a specific follower count on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or X (formerly Twitter). The selected candidate will create content- videos, infographics, and daily updates to promote government programs. They must maintain an active social media platform, conduct live streams and share real-time updates during government events.
“This initiative ensures that our welfare schemes reach every corner of Rajasthan, bridging the gap between governance and the people. The government believes this innovative approach will connect with millions of citizens through the influencers' creative and impactful content,” said a DIPR official.
Under this policy, there will be two categories of content creators: Category A, influencers with 1 lakh or more followers will receive Rs 25,000 per month; and Category B, influencers with 7,000 to 1 lakh followers will make Rs 10,000 per month. Their social media account should be active for one year, with at least 100 posts published in the last year. Each district will select one influencer from each category, while the divisional level authority will recruit two influencers in Category A and one in Category B.
Each post and activity will be validated by the DIPR, ensuring compliance and quality assurance. No post can be made without prior approval, and payouts will be based on performance. Individuals who will exit within the first month of the program will have to forfeit their honorarium. The candidates will be shortlisted by the Department of Information and Public Relations. The final selection will be made by the state-level committee.
